Rare earth stocks list
Information only, not investment advice. We describe these companies; we do not recommend them. Rare earth shares are volatile and many explorers never reach production.

Rare earth stocks are shares in companies that mine rare earth elements, separate them into oxides, or turn them into the metals and magnets used in electric motors and wind turbines. The list below has 71, listed on 8 exchanges.
By listing: ASX 31, TSXV 12, CSE 12, Nasdaq 6, LSE 4, TSX 3, NYSE American 2, NYSE 1. The list is weighted heavily toward developers and explorers, with only a few producers at the top. Few companies outside China mine and separate rare earths at scale, so each new separation plant or magnet factory draws attention.
Which rare earth stocks have projects in Canada?
18 companies on the list have a rare earth project or plant in Canada, and 27 are listed on a Canadian exchange (TSX, TSX Venture or CSE). Many Canadian-listed companies explore abroad, in Brazil, Namibia or the United States, so the two groups overlap only in part. None of them mines rare earths yet: the U.S. Geological Survey reports no Canadian mine production in 2025.

Where are rare earths mined?
China mined about 270,000 of the world's 390,000 tonnes of rare earth oxide in 2025, roughly 69%, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The United States came a distant second at 51,000 tonnes, led by the Mountain Pass mine in California. Reserves are spread more widely: Brazil holds an estimated 11 million tonnes but mined only about 2,000 tonnes in 2025.
| Country | Mine production 2025 (t REO) | Reserves (t REO) |
|---|---|---|
| China | 270,000 | 44,000,000 |
| United States | 51,000 | 1,900,000 |
| Australia | 29,000 | 6,300,000 |
| Burma | 22,000 | not reported |
| Thailand | 4,800 | not reported |
| Madagascar | 2,700 | not reported |
| Brazil | 2,000 | 11,000,000 |
| Canada | 0 | 830,000 |
| World (rounded) | 390,000 | more than 75,000,000 |
REO is rare earth oxide equivalent. Figures are U.S. Geological Survey estimates, Mineral Commodity Summaries 2026.
Why do China's export controls move these stocks?
China's export rules set how much rare earth material the rest of the world can buy. In April 2025 it put controls on seven elements, dysprosium and terbium among them. Those two heavy rare earths are what let a magnet keep working when it gets hot. China widened the controls in October, then paused that October expansion for a year in November. The April rules stayed in force. Those rules are the main reason buyers outside China are looking for other suppliers of dysprosium and terbium.
What do rare earths sell for?
NdPr oxide, the main raw material for permanent magnets, averaged US$69 a kilogram in 2025, up from US$55 in 2024, though nowhere near the US$124 average of 2022, based on USGS figures. A deposit's value depends on its mix of elements, so company reports usually give the NdPr, dysprosium and terbium content alongside the total grade.

Rare earth stocks: frequently asked questions
What are rare earth stocks?
Rare earth stocks are shares in companies that explore for, mine, separate or manufacture products from rare earth elements. They range from producers such as Lynas and MP Materials to early-stage explorers that have not yet defined a deposit.
Which country produces the most rare earths?
China. The U.S. Geological Survey estimates China mined 270,000 tonnes of rare earth oxide in 2025, out of a world total of about 390,000 tonnes. The United States was second at 51,000 tonnes.
Which rare earths matter most for magnets?
Neodymium and praseodymium, usually sold together as NdPr oxide, form the bulk of a permanent magnet. Small amounts of dysprosium and terbium are added so magnets keep working at high temperatures, which makes those two heavy rare earths especially valuable.
Does Canada produce rare earths?
Not from mines at the moment. The U.S. Geological Survey reports no Canadian rare earth mine production in 2025, although Canada holds an estimated 830,000 tonnes of reserves and several Canadian-listed companies are developing projects.
